As a broadcast journalist I’m always looking for interesting stories, particularly those on topics that are close to my heart, so you can imagine my excitement a few months ago when I met Steve, a Vegetarian Shepherd.
I meet lots of farmers when I’m reporting for Radio 4’s Farming Today programme but Steve is the first one I’ve met who doesn’t eat meat. I was so intrigued by Steve’s story that I asked if I could make a documentary about him and thankfully he said yes, so today we started filming.
Watching Steve with his animals was fascinating and I can’t wait to get into the edit suite to start watching the footage. For now you’ll have to make do with some photos, but I’ll keep you posted about the documentary.
